Epilogue to Our 40 Days of Prayer for America

Bible Text
Romans 8:38-39 (KJV) For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
These are the Last Days
In these last times, these last days, Jesus is calling us back to Himself. That isn’t accomplished through mindless religion, or through halfhearted faith, but through wholehearted commitment to Him. It’s about having a true relationship with Him! The times we live in can be pretty unsettling due to the unsure nature of events happening in the world around us. But as Paul said NOTHING can separate us from God’s love, not our hurts or pains, not what’s going on around us, NOTHING can separate us from the love that God has for us because of what the Savior did for us! That is a truth we can hang onto!
We all need a Savior and Jesus is that Savior. What He offers is not a little religious instruction and not merely a little spiritual knowledge. What Jesus offers is Himself and that changes EVERYTHING! It changes you, it changes me and it changes the world!
What is your relationship with God like? Is it personal or do you hold Him an arm’s length away? What qualities might one find in a relationship with God? Openness, honesty, unconditional love, forgiveness, communication, … (add to the list) Are those qualities evident in your relationship with God? How do others, those around you, view your relationship with God?
Prayer: Thank Jesus that because of what He did on the cross, nothing can separate you from the love God has for you. Talk to God about your relationship with Him…. Share and engage in your relationship with Him in a way that others will notice. Let them see His love in you and from there let God begin to change them, too.

Day 4 of 40 Days of Prayer for America
Bible Text
Isaiah 28:23 (NLT) “Listen to Me; listen, and pay close attention.”

Hebrews 3:15 As it is said, “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden our hearts as in the rebellion.”
Matthew 7:24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
Jeremiah 29:11-14a (NLT) For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord.
God says that it is not enough to just hear Him. We need to listen to Him. I can remember when our kids were growing up, and there were times when you would say something to them and you could tell it just went in one ear and out the other. You could not only sense it, you could see it, the eyes glazed over. Now don’t get me wrong. I love my kids. They are good kids, but there were times that you had to get in their face and look them in the eye and say, “Listen to me. It’s not enough to hear, listen. Listen to my voice. Listen to what I’m saying.”
And that is what God says to us. He says, “Listen to Me. Don’t simply go through the motions and go through the actions, but do what I tell you. Because faith shows itself in obedience.” As we listen and seek Him with all our heart, He responds in incredible ways
Our God is a God who does not operate the way the world does. The world loves pomp and ceremony. It loves titles and it enjoys being honored, but God chooses the things that the world often laughs at to accomplish His plan and purpose. And do you realize what a powerful promise that is for you and me? God uses people like us to accomplish His purpose. And when we listen to His voice, it doesn’t mean it will be easy. Usually what He asks is not easy, but He calls us to follow Him no matter what.
The purpose and plan of the Living God is worth suffering for it. It is worth risking for it. It is worth losing for it. It is worth being ridiculed for it. It is worth being called crazy for it, because what He says is true. And throughout the ages the truth that God speaks has often been ignored, because people can hear without listening, and understand without obeying.
He says to His children, “If you hear My word, and you listen to My voice, I will do everything I’ve said. I will keep my promise. I will bless and I will be honored.” That is the word of the Living God for us, and it’s a word that we need to take to heart.
Prayer: Lord, move in power over America and her people and do a mighty thing. Bring her to her knees in humility before You. Bring forth a revival in this nation. Lord, let now be the time when people will listen to Your voice, hear You and return to You. This is the prayer of my heart. Amen

Day 2 of 40 Days of Prayer for America
Bible Text 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Our land, our country, the U.S.A. needs healing, do you agree? There is a brokenness that goes beyond the political, the economic, the social; do you sense it, too? Will the right candidate, another law, more funding, etc., heal our brokenness? Throughout history when God’s people recognized their country going down a destructive path, they called on God, their Father for help. They recognized their profound need and cried out to God out of desperation.
God, out of his deep love for US(A), who has called us to be His own, spoke these words of promise. He said, “If we will humble ourselves before Him, and pray, and seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways…” (stop!). Can we do that right now? Wherever you are, would you pause, pull over, stop for a minute, and tell God you are sorry for the things we have done, for turning away from Him and for making decisions and pursuing paths that were and are not good….
Can we take time now to confess our waywardness on behalf of our country?….
We are a land that desperately needs healing and our God desires to pour that out in abundance. God says in 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV), “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
Prayer: Lord, we recognize we’ve made a mess of things. We need your help. We have turned from You and even pursued evil. We are sorry. I am sorry. Thank You for Your promise that You HEAR US, that You FORGIVE US, and that You desire to HEAL OUR LAND! We stand on that promise. Thank You for Your Son, Jesus, who took on Himself the punishment of humanity when He went to the cross. Thank You for the hope we have in His resurrection. Heal our marriages, heal our schools, heal our business, heal our government, heal our country, through Jesus! We believe You can and will, through Jesus! Amen

COMMIT AND DECLARE IT – OUT LOUD!
It’s been a number of weeks since posting on Building a Prayer Wall. Let’s pick up where we left off.
As a recap – we are looking at America and building a spiritual “wall” for her through the lens of the book of Nehemiah and seeking to apply what God might be saying to US(A).
Nehemiah, at night, under the cover of darkness, scoped out the condition of Jerusalem’s wall. He had only received reports, so he assessed the damage himself. Now it was time to step out – in faith, and make a public decision. He brought Jerusalem’s leaders together for a meeting and this is his account.
“The city officials did not know I (Nehemiah) had been out there or what I was doing, for I had not yet said anything to anyone about my plans. I had not yet spoken to the Jewish leaders—the priests, the nobles, the officials, or anyone else in the administration. But now I said to them, “You know very well what trouble we are in. Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire. Let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem and end this disgrace!” Then I told them about how the gracious hand of God had been on me, and about my conversation with the king. They replied at once, “Yes, let’s rebuild the wall!” So they began the good work.” (Nehemiah 2:16-18 NLT)
This a key turning point in Nehemiah’s story. It’s commitment day! Nehemiah stepped out THREE TIMES by speaking up and committing.
- He told the leaders he had secretly scoped out the wall’s condition.
- He asked the leaders to join him in rebuilding it.
- He recounted how God had shown him favor this far!
What a great example of how God likes to work powerfully in and through people like Nehemiah! And also you and me! This account is in the Scriptures, not only for us to admire and be inspired by, but for God to provoke us, as well, to step out in faith toward Him. This is what I believe we are to do:
- Once we determine the condition of America’s spiritual wall (by asking the Holy Spirit to give insight and wisdom), tell someone what you believe to be true. How have we strayed from God’s wonderful plan for US(A)? How have we turned our backs on Him and followed our own ways?
- Ask that person (or persons) to join you in prayer. Pray from the perspective that God’s will is always good, perfect and pleasing (Romans 12:2).
- Recount how God has shown this country favor, and shown YOU favor. Pray with thankful confidence in Him.
It doesn’t have to be complicated or arduous, just a simple step of faith. One person joining with another person to do our part in rebuilding America’s spiritual wall. So let’s pray! In Jesus’ Name!
BUILDING A PRAYER WALL FOR AMERICA LAUNCHES TODAY!
Today is the launch of Building a Prayer Wall for America. We are inviting people from all around the country to build
a “Wall of Prayer” for America: Followers of Jesus in every state committed to daily prayer to God for a spiritual Awakening in our nation.
What could the future of America look like if God’s people came together in prayer for her? We invite you to join us and others from across this great nation in rebuilding the foundation on which America was established. Let us commit to praying for an awakening, for revival, for healing. One nation, under God, built and rebuilt on Jesus the Foundation.
BUILD A WALL OF PRAYER! By Pastor Chris Dodge
Our nation, dearly loved by all, needs our prayers.
These
are critical times. It has nothing to do with partisan politics or political parties. It has everything to do with turning the hearts of people back to God. God desires that His people look to Him and that people everywhere come to a knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Savior. Only that can renew a nation and only that can change the future. So we invite you to join us in prayer for our country for the next 52 weeks.
WHAT IS A PRAYER WALL? By Pastor Kevin Schuessler
A prayer wall is a spiritual wall that is a barricade to evil and holds people inside its walls together! It is doing by prayer what Nehemiah did physically. Nehemiah and God’s people were in a broken-down state. The city wall around Jerusalem was in shambles, allowing Israel’s enemies the ability to keep its citizens in a defeated state.

Be part of praying for America. Join us and others from across America in praying for revival, a Great Awakening, for the people, for the church, for our nation and our nation’s leaders. Join us today in building a prayer wall for Amer
ica.
